Hey Reader,
in the first edition of Tana Tips this year I'm very happy to send you a whole truckload of tips and tricks that I've published in video or Twitter thread form over the last couple of weeks.
The most recent video is the one below, where I take you on a deep-dive of Tana's live searches, showing you exactly how to take advantage of the PARENT and PARENTS_DESCENDANTS class of search operators. Enjoy!
As we're at the start of a new year I thought it would also be useful to share my personal planning system with you and how I've set it up in Tana. I plan in six-week cycles (which I call Macro Cycles), four of which make up a Super Cycle (roughly half a year).
If that sounds interesting, check the video below:
On thing I really enjoyed last year was Tana's release of semantic field functions. What sounds like a mouthful is one of the biggest under-the-radar releases they could have done – I'll explain more in the video below. You can activate semantic field functions in Tana Labs if you want to try it out.
A couple of weeks back I also jumped on the ChatGPT wagon and tried to figure out how to use AI to build my supertags. It's not something that I'm doing every day, but it was fun to play with to bleeding-edge platforms like Tana and ChatGPT at once. If that sound interesting to you, check below:
Apart from videos I've also been busy writing Twitter threads.
Here are a couple that I wrote this month:
Finally, many people have reached out to ask whether I still have invites available as part of a purchase of my course Mastering Tana Core. I'm very happy to report that I do!
If you want to skip Tana's waitlist and learn how to build your own custom supertag systems, join Mastering Tana Core here.
I'm really looking forward to this year, there are some great things in store for everything Tana.
Warmly,
Lukas / CortexFutura

Hey Reader, it turns out that it's really easy to dictate directly into Tana and get an AI response – with just two shortcuts you can speak and get a response...it feels like magic, if I'm honest. I'm super excited to share this workflow with you, so check out the video here: If you want even more mindblowing AI things that are possible with Tana, check out Tana Node's video about setting up a Siri shortcut that lets you put tasks and fleeting notes and more directly from your Apple Watch...
Hey Reader, I've just published a new video and template about how to use Tana to build a system to write better AI prompts and how to use AI to come up with what's called "far analogies" for more creative problem solving! Check out the video here: And get the template directly here! The prompt I share for creating "far analogies" and the idea for it is based on work out of Joal Chan's lab – you can read the actual paper here, if you like. It's a cool paper! I also shared a clip on Twitter...
Hey Reader, this week I'm starting a new project that I'd like to take you on with me: Over the next couple of weeks I'll research a topic I know nothing about to show how a tool like Tana can help with doing research for and then writing reports, essays, papers, and so on. The topic that I'm going to research and write about: Global Supply Chain Risks for the 3D Printing Industry I know nothing about this topic, except that 3D printing is cool and that supply chains are important. Why am I...
